Gold and Silver Mokume

This ring has an inlay of 22 karat yellow gold and sterling silver mixed in a random pattern.  Mokume Gane is Japanese for wood grain metal and is an ancient technique used in swordmaking. The silver is oxidized black so that it has more contrast with the gold.  It takes on a look like a wild animal skin.    The ring shown is 7mm in width, and has a polished finish.
